I live in Southern Maryland, where it is still back country. Prejudice of the blind and other disabled folk still run strong, though, things have gotten much better over the years. You may wonder how I fit into all of this.
I go around my countty educating people at best, and I've also striven to obtain public status so as to helppeople to understand and see that the blind are not helpless and incapable people. It is my hope that by the examples I set, that doors will open for those that follow after me. In doing this, I made it into our local paper, which is awesome since Southern Maryland consists of three counties, and many read this paper.
